World`s largest BOPP project in production well ahead of schedule
Only 15 months (!) after project start, Treofan Group and Brückner finalized a new greenfield plant in Mexico. Despite the project’s challenging complexity, the expansion of Treofan`s production facilities at their Zacapu plant in the Mexican state of Michoacan was realized even two weeks ahead of schedule.
The new state-of the-art 8.2 m BOPP line has been producing specialty multilayer films from the very first day, supporting Treofan`s growth strategy in specialty films for flexible packaging and label applications.
In addition to the high speed BOPP line (superior production speed of 525 m/min ensures a high throughput and a capacity of 36,500 tons per year) Brückner also supplied a complete turnkey package for the entire production plant:
Detailed engineering of plant logistics and base plant production equipment
Earthworks, site preparation and building construction
Energy and water supply systems
Connection to existing facilities
Roll handling systems
Primary and secondary slitters
Recycling systems
Packaging and storage incl. final warehouse
Treofan México`s Manufacturing Director Allan Crighton says:
“This investment is a very important step for Treofan in our strategy for growth. We chose Brückner as our partner for this project not only because of their market leading technology in high speed BOPP lines and reputation for reliability but also because the turnkey experience they brought, providing the whole package for our new plant from raw materials to finished goods handling including the building, services and infrastructure. The cooperation between Treofan and Brückner project teams has been fantastic and has allowed us to bring the new plant on stream ahead of challenging deadline we set in June last year. Overall this has been a very positive experience for the Zacapu team as well as for the Treofan Group.”
Treofan is the largest producer of BOPP film in Europe, the second largest globally and a market leader in many of the speciality product segments and geographic regions where it is active.
