#1 Five Generations of
Continuous Improvement
One example is our long-standing cooperation with Senior Technology Material in the field of battery separator film production. Over multiple generations of line development, both companies have continuously refined processes, technologies, and performance standards.
Today, Senior operates the fifth generation of BSF lines, reflecting years of joint learning and optimization. The result is a technology platform that supports outstanding productivity and product quality while meeting growing market demands.
This close collaboration has also contributed to the development of industry's most advanced 8.7-meter battery separator film production lines, a concept that has already been selected by customers and will soon become reality.

#2 Learning from Data
Continuous innovation does not stop once a line is commissioned. Some of the most valuable insights emerge during everyday production. A good example is the LINIP system installed in the pull roll section, where corona treatment prepares the film surface for subsequent printing. At line speeds of up to 700 m/min and film widths of up to 12 meters, even the smallest process deviations can affect product quality.
Unlike conventional systems that use pneumatic cylinders, LINIP utilizes highly precise linear motors to control the pressure roller. This enables early detection of backside treatment and potential roller surface defects.
Since the first installation, approximately 87 LINIP systems have been put into operation worldwide.
The resulting knowledge base is substantial:
more than one million measurement files collected and analyzed by customers in their day-to-day production
approximately 30,000 kilometers of film production monitored, with position data recorded every 2 millimeters
roughly 1,000 hours of process data captured and evaluated, with measurements recorded every 4 milliseconds
By generating and evaluating this wealth of production data within their own operations, customers continuously expand their process expertise and gain deeper insight into the complex interactions that influence film quality and performance. The resulting knowledge enables them to identify optimization opportunities with greater confidence, make data-driven decisions, and further improve production efficiency and product quality based on insights from their own manufacturing environment.
#3 Advancing Film Quality Together
Another strong example of collaborative innovation is our partnership with FOROP Advanced Materials. Over the years, FOROP has enabled numerous joint trials focused on winding quality and downstream film performance. Together, we tested new contact roller concepts and additional winder technologies under real production conditions. The common goal was to further improve film quality at the slitter and create greater value for the end customer.
These trials generated valuable insights into winding behavior and helped validate new technologies that can benefit film producers facing similar challenges. The project demonstrates how openness, practical testing, and continuous feedback can accelerate innovation and lead to measurable quality improvements.
