Ismail Industries Ltd. in Pakistan has set a good example of how to successfully boost a backward integration strategy. Founded in 1989, the company manufactures and exports via their affiliates Candyland and Bisconni quality confectionery products: potato chips, biscuits, candies, toffees, chew toffees, bubble and chewing gums, jellies, chocolates, lollipops and marshmallows.
With Astro-Pack, the plastics division of Ismail Industries, the company is operating already one CPP line as well as a metalizing unit and is one of the distinguished pioneers in innovative solutions to tough packaging needs of the growing market in Pakistan.
To enter BOPET film production means for Ismail Industries another strategical diversification to their portfolio. The recent contract for a Brückner film stretching line will pave the way to further capture Pakistan`s and international film markets.
The recently ordered BOPET line is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology for the production of a wide variety of polyester films with thicknesses ranging from 10 µm to above 100 µm. Thus, Astro-Pack will be able to satisfy Pakistan's needs for high quality biaxially oriented PET packaging and specialty films, e.g. for the booming market for sequin embroidery.
Muhammad M. Ismail, Chief Executive of Ismail Industries, says: “We are really excited about working with Brückner as our prime supplier. We believe in their technology and in their commitment to this project and are sure to manufacture high quality film on schedule. Adding PET film to our portfolio of films will make us a choice supplier in the region.”
