Thinking outside the box
This year’s AMI BOPP film conference, which was held in Frankfurt from May 22 – 24, once again proved its position as a leading forum for the plastics industry, with approximately 250 delegates attending from all over the world. Audience and speakers agreed that an upward trend can be clearly foreseen within the BOPP industry.
In contrast to previous years, the majority of the lectures given did not concentrate on new technologies but rather gave a review of the interaction across the entire supply chain – from resin to packaging. A representative statement of Aldo Mortara, R&D Corporate Manager at Brazilian film producer Vitopel: “Levering synergies within the supply chain, through selected opportunities is extremely important for the evolution of the industry.”
In his well-received speech, Markus Gschwandtner, Brückner’s Head of Sales Division, precisely focused on this point. He drew attention to the fact that equipment suppliers nowadays are not only required to support their customers with top technology and services, but are also expected to be an active partner by collaborating and implementing common projects with resin suppliers, film producers, converters, institutes and universities, as well as the food industry. His statement, that the common goal unifying the entire BOPP industry is “sustainable and profitable growth”, evoked a rousing applause from the audience.
Brückner’s successful conference attendance was topped off with its once again well-attended reception party and the table-top exhibition, where visitors crowded to lively discuss Brückner’s solutions aimed at ensuring highly efficient and flexible film production.
