At last: BOPP for Bangladesh

Akij Group’s first choice for entering the plastic film business is Brückner

The demand for high quality packaging film in Bangladesh is rising – but at present there are no adequate local production capacities. Akij Group, one of the country’s largest group of companies with more than 22 branches of industry and approx. 55,000 employees, now enters this promising business with a Brückner BOPP line. The explicit decision for a high performance line clearly points to the future. This perfectly matches the Akij Group’s expansion strategy – at home as well as in export markets.

Bangladesh’s very first BOPP film production line’s statistics are impressive: 8.7m working width, 450m/min production speed and an annual output of up to 40,000 tons. The line will produce a variety of the finest polypropylene packaging films and is especially equipped for the manufacture of sophisticated cigarette film. This neatly completes Akij Group’s cigarette business: they now have everything in their own hands, from production to packaging.
