Film (Production)
for a Better World

As one of the most sustainable medium-sized corporate groups in Germany, the Brückner Group acts responsibly in the interests of their global community and its international workforce at all locations worldwide. The focus is on the sustainable production of plastic products and packaging solutions, innovative solutions in the areas of plastics, natural fibers, recycled and bio-based materials as well as environmentally friendly technologies for various industries.

With Plastic -
without Plastic Waste

At Brückner Maschinenbau, we are working on processes to produce films on our lines with the lowest possible use of resources and the highest possible recyclability. In doing so, we are making a positive contribution to global megatrends such as the circular economy, climate change, and energy demand.

Sustainability at Site

At the Siegsdorf site, employees work in modern, energy-efficient buildings with their own decentralized energy supply from a combined heat and power plant. Since spring 2024, photovoltaic systems on the parking decks with a capacity of 505 kWp have been supplementing electricity generation, and further systems are planned.

To preserve green spaces, two multi-story parking garages with around 40 electric charging stations were built. In addition, Brückner Maschinenbau introduced an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001.

Sustainability in Film Production

Energy efficiency has been the focus of our research and development for years. Since 2000, the specific power consumption of our lines has been significantly reduced thanks to heat recovery systems – even when retrofitting existing lines.

An integrated energy monitor in the film stretching lines displays real-time consumption and helps identify potential savings. Wider lines with higher throughput further reduce energy requirements. This enables our customers to achieve resource-efficient production with a lower carbon footprint.

Sustainable Films

We are conducting intensive research into the circular economy, regranulates, and biopolymers—the first building blocks for a “biofilm construction kit” have already been developed. One focus is on monomaterial films that replace conventional multilayer films and enable better sortability and recyclability.

A study conducted under real-world conditions shows that using 30% recycled material reduces the carbon footprint of films by 20%.
