High barrier packaging against food waste
Food waste is a significant global issue, with approximately one-third of all food produced for human consumption being lost or wasted, leading to severe environmental and social consequences. High-quality packaging with excellent material properties is, among other factors, one of the solutions to remedy this situation.
Here are some interesting articles on this topic:

Brückner has had this on the radar since 2007. Numerous in-house development projects devoted themselves to topics such as metallized ultra-high barrier BOPP film, processed in the sequential as well as the simultaneous stretching mode, high surface energy skins (using either EVOH or polyamide) or various coating and metallizing processes. Trials together with customers and other partners along the value chain went in the same direction and showed good results in terms of ultra-high barrier solutions for a wide variety of long shelf-life, recyclable packaging applications. Just one example: PP mono-material retort packaging.
With Brückner’s new 5-layer BOPP lines, “UHB equipment” is almost standard practice. And for older film stretching lines Brückner Servtec offers appropriate ultra-high barrier solutions with adjustments in dosing and extrusion. There are inquiries for this from almost all markets.
